If you plan on running Windows, it is highly advised that you are running FreeBSD 11+ and use UEFI graphics support. First of all you will need to make sure you have the UEFI firmware if not already installed: # pkg install bhyve-firmware Guest Configuration Create a guest using the Windows template. Hw.vmm.topology.cores_per_package must be set in /boot/loader.conf (and a reboot to take effect). On FreeBSD 12, when using vm-bhyve 1.3, it's possible to control CPU topology for each guest using configuration options - cpu=8 cpu_sockets=2 cpu_cores=4 cpu_threads=1.

My Bhyve VMs keep locking up on FreeNAS 11 - Windows Server 2016. I'm using Windows to manage a wide range of Applications and it has an under welling 4GB assigned to it. FreeNAS is using every bit of ram and when it seems to run out the VMs start acting up and crashing. Hardware: Dell PowerEdge R510, Memory 16GB, H200 HBA with 8 Drives Attached, 3 x 5TB (RaidZ)Seagate Barracuda Drives, 3 x 3TB (RaidZ)WD Blue Drives, 2 X 1TB (Mirror) I was going to pop an extra 32GB into this server on Monday. But just wanted to ask why you all might think my Bhyve VMs are locking up.

Memory usage is at 100% btw.
